NSWIS hockey player Emily Hurtz has announced her retirement from international hockey, bringing to a close a fantastic career for the Hockeyroos.

The 24 year old made 85 appearances for the Australian team, scoring 30 goals since making her debut against South Africa in 2009. Included in her 30 goal haul were two hattricks, one against Ireland during a test series in 2010, and the other against Trinidad & Tobago during the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Hurtz experienced great success during her career, winning Commonwealth Games gold, as well as silver medals at the World Cup and Champions Trophy, while also being named as a reserve for the Hockeyroos at the 2012 Olympic Games where the team finished fifth.

The 24 year old, who has been playing club hockey in the Netherlands for the past two years, has decided to relocate to Melbourne to focus on completing studies in science and nursing.

The NSWIS would like to congratulate Emily on a fantastic international career and wish her all the best for the future.
