NSWIS triathlete Brad Kahlefeldt has finished fifth at the Kitzbuhel, Austria leg of the 2011 ITU Triathlon World Championship Series over the weekend.

In a solid performance in terrible conditions Kahlefeldt posted a time of 1:53.10 to finish just over 10 seconds outside of a bronze medal finish, however the near-podium result was a welcome return to form after a number of uncharacteristic peformances at the Sydney and Madrid world championship events.

Competitors in the event experienced rainy, cold conditions in Austria, and will be hoping for better conditions ahead of the upcoming Hamburg and London events before contesting the sprint and team triathlon world championships in Switzerland.
