NSWIS athlete Sami Kennedy-Sim has highlighted the weekend’s winter sport results after a strong showing at a world cup event in France.

Competing in the women’s ski cross, Kennedy-Sim notched a career best fourth place finish on the slopes of Val Thorens. The near-podium finish comes just eight months after Kennedy-Sim suffered an infarct stroke, and lifts the 25 year to 22nd overall on the world cup rankings.

Also competing at the ski cross event were NSWIS athletes Jenny Owens (23rd) and Katya Crema (26th), while Anton Grimus finished 17th in the men’s event.

Two moguls world cup events were held over the weekend, with NSWIS athletes competing in Lake Placid, USA and Val St Come, Canada for spots at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Britteny Cox continued her strong form by finishing ninth at the Lake Placid event, with Taylah-Paige O’Neill 28th. The men’s moguls saw Brodie Summers place 12th, Matt Graham finish 22nd and Sam Hall finish 35th.

O’Neill, Summers and Hall then competed in Canada where the trio finished 21st, 12th and 38th, respectively, with Summers’ 12th placing a season’s best performance.

The snowboard world cup continued in Stoneham, Canada, with four NSWIS athletes achieving solid results.

Torah Bright’s 10th place finish in the women’s snowboard slopestyle was the pick of the results, with Michaela Davis-Meehan coming in 31st in the same event.

Half-pipe snowboarders Steph Magiros and Alex Fitch were also in action, with the duo finishing 16th and 23rd, respectively.

Elsewhere, Boen Ferguson finished 17th in the men’s ski slopestyle at the Gstaad world cup event in Switzerland.

Rounding out results was skeleton athlete John Farrow, who all but secured selection for the 2014 Sochi Games after a 25th place finish at a skeleton world cup event in Austria.
