The Australian men’s hockey team, the Kookaburras, have kept their rivals on alert ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games by making a clean sweep of Japan in a three test series.

The Kookaburras’ first win was a solid 3-1 outing in which NSWIS athlete Simon Orchard found the back of the next, before a 3-0 win wrapped up the series with a game to spare.

However, not content with just two victories, the world number one Kookaburras demolished Japan 7-1 to finish with a clean sweep. NSWIS athlete Kieran Govers scored a hat-trick in the route to stake his claim for an Olympic berth later this year.

The team now heads to Perth where they will continue training and competing ahead of London.
