NSWIS track & field athlete Fabrice Lapierre began his Australian domestic season in strong fashion by winning gold at the Queensland track classic over the weekend.

Lapierre secured gold in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.96 metres, smashing the 2006 meet record of 7.79 metres, in his quest to secure a spot on the Australian team competing at the world championships later this year.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Isaac Ntiamoah was also in the medals, picking up bronze in the men’s 100m and silver in the men’s 200m, while James Kaan took bronze in the men’s 800m.
