NSWIS swimmer Ami Matsuo has won five medals at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in China, highlighting the NSWIS results so far.

After winning bronze in the mixed 4x100m freestyle and women’s 4x100m medley relay on the opening two days of competition, Matsuo added to her medal haul with two more bronze in the women’s 100m freestyle relay and mixed 4x100m medley relay in Nanjing.

The 18 year old then went on better in the individual events, taking silver in the women’s 50m freestyle to finish her campaign with four bronze and one silver medal.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Angus Thompson was also in action at the Games over the weekend, finishing 16th in the men’s K1 canoe sprint event. Thompson will compete in the K1 obstacle slalom tomorrow.
