Several NSWIS swimmers cemented their spot on the plane to London overnight at the 2012 Australian Swimming Championships in Adelaide.

Jayden Hadler touched second in a time of 52.09 in the men’s 100m butterfly, scoring himself a second individual swim in London after already qualifying for the men’s 200m individual medley. Unfortunately in the same event, NSWIS athlete Geoff ‘Skippy’ Huegill was unable to realise his dream of competing at his third Olympic Games, finishing fifth.

Current world 100m freestyle champion James ‘The Missile’ Magnussen claimed a clean sweep in the men’s sprint events with a win in the 50m freestyle in front of fellow NSWIS athletes Eamon Sullivan and Matt Abood, with all finishing under 22 seconds in a remarkable display.

Locking in a spot for her Olympic debut, Jessica Ashwood has also booked a seat to London after finishing second to Kylie Palmer in the women’s 800m freestyle.

Meanwhile, Paralympic veteran Prue Watt touched second in the women’s 100m butterfly multi class, scoring herself a sport at her third Paralympic Games.  In the men’s 100m butterfly multi class Timothy Antalfy bettered his time in the heats, taking out the title in a time of 54.92 and breaking the provisional world record for his classification.
