From Basketball Australia:

The Netherlands wheelchair basketball team have begun their week long training camp in Sydney, with a 65-55 victory against the NSW Institute of Sport at Bankstown Stadium overnight.

The Netherlands are currently in Australia preparing for the European Championships which will be held in September, and are playing a three games series against NSW based wheelchair teams before taking part in a Tri Series Tournament against both Australia and South Africa at the AIS in Canberra next week.

The hit out against the NSWIS was the first competitive game the team from the Netherlands had played, putting together a great team effort to take the victory.

The game was tight for the first three terms, with scores locked at 47 all heading into the last term, before an 18-8 final quarter from the Netherlands secured them the win.

Australian based player from the Netherlands Koen Jansen was the top scorer in the game with 20 points and worked well with his team. Tristan Knowles shot well for the NSWIS leading them in points with 17.

Two female players, Kylie Gauci and Tina McKenzie, joined the NSWIS team, with Gauci having an immediate impact and scoring the first basket of the game.

The Netherlands next game is against the Wollongong Rollers at Shellharbour Stadium at 7.30pm on Thursday.
