The Australian Hockeyroos squad has taken on a new look after fomer Kookaburras player Adam Commens stepped into the coaching role following Frank Murray’s retirement last year.

Commens wasted no time in changing the look of the Hockeyroos squad, insisting that youth and physicality is what is needed to take the team back to the top echelon of women’s hockey.

Eight NSWIS athletes have been included in the 2011 Hockeyroos squad. They are: Jade Close, Toni Cronk, Casey Eastham, Emily Hurtz, Kate Jenner, Megan Rivers, Jade Warrender and Kellie White.

Notable omissions from the squad include NSWIS athletes Kate Hollywood, Alison Bruce and Fiona Johnson. Hollywood and Bruce have been included in the 2011 National Development squad along with fellow NSWIS athletes Suzie Harris, Jacklyn McRae and Hollie Webster.
