The under-18 men’s NSW hockey team has triumphed at the 2011 Australian U18 Championships in Tasmania.

NSWIS athlete Luke Noblett captained the NSW side, working tirelessly through the mid-field, where NSW achieved their greatest success. Noblett, supported admirably by NSWIS athlete Flynn Ogilvie, was instrumental in leading the team throughout the high-pressure arm wrestle against Queensland.

Scores were tied at nil-all right up until the 60th minute with neither team giving an inch. NSWIS athlete Nicholas Hill then executed perfectly on a pass delivered through the midfield by Scott Govers to slot the only goal of the match.

Ogilvie was awarded the 2011 Australian U18 Boys Player of the Championships at the afternoon’s presentation.

NSWIS athletes in the team were Noblett, Ogilvie, Hill, Govers, Tom Craig, Matthew Dawson, Jack Elliott, Landon Morley, Matt Munnik and Jordan Willott.
