The NSWIS’ James Chapman, Jack Hargreaves and Nicholas Purnell have helped New South Wales to a seventh straight King’s Cup victory in the men’s eight at the Interstate Regatta at the 2014 Sydney International Rowing Regatta on Saturday.

The winning crew, coxed by the NSWIS’ Toby Lister, smashed their opposition to secure another resounding victory in what is the pinnacle event in the Interstate Regatta.

Chapman said it was a special win and paid tribute to the entire crew.

“It’s just such a great race to win, with your crew mates who you’ve grown up with and trained with for many years," Chapman said.

“The interstate regatta gives you a chance to get together with the guys you grew up with and you only get that chance once a year.

“There’s no heats, there’s no repecharges, and you only get one shot, at one race on one day a year and that makes it so special to win and also so hard when you lose. It feels so good when you win seven of them and each one of them is special in their own right."
