The second round of the snowboard cross Australian NZ Cup will take place at Mt Hotham this weekend, with NSWIS riders looking to build on strong performances in the first races.

Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin is coming off a win and a second place in the first round of racing last month, and will be hoping for similar results in Mt Hotham this week.

Chumpy is particularly excited about the chance to compete on a home course, “It’s pretty cool that Hotham provides us with a track we can come home to compete on and test boards. In terms of what we can work on technique wise, in preparation for the northern season, it’s unreal.”

Fellow NSWIS athlete Adam Lambert will be looking to improve on his 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the first round of races.

In the women’s event NSWIS athlete Georgia Baff won both races last time out, but will sit out this week due to an injury sustained in training.

Baff is excited to get back racing in the new season – with big things on the horizon. “I’m so keen for the first couple of Europa cups and after that I’m looking forward to getting to race in some World Cups in the 2017-18 season” she said.

“Of course it’s the Olympic year so I’m doing everything I can to get healthy and fit again, giving myself the best chance to make the Australian team and compete in Pyeongchang in Feb!”

The racing in Mt Hotham gets underway on Friday, with the approximate schedule for each day below:

8am course inspection
9am training
10am qualifications
