Five NSWIS Track and Field athletes have been selected to represent Australia at the inaugural Nitro Athletics Melbourne – where they will be taking on a team headlined by Usain Bolt.

The exciting new athletics format will be coming to Melbourne on 4th, 9th and 11th February – with the Australia team up against the Bolt All-Stars and teams from China, England, Japan and New Zealand.

NSWIS representatives on the women’s team include: hurdler Michelle Jenneke, sprinters Anneliese Rubie and Christine Wearne, and middle distance runner Heidi See. The sole NSWIS athlete amongst the men is long jumper Fabrice Lapierre.

Jenneke is excited about the new format. “I think new innovations in any sport which engages the general public and increases the profile of the sport and its athletes is great,”

“I hope the Australian public will get behind it and get to experience some of the fun that I as an athlete get to experience. Team Australia is a great group of athletes with lots of young energy so hopefully with the crowd behind us, it will result in a whole lot of fun and a great night at the track for everyone.”
