A host of athletes from the NSW Institute of Sport and New South Wales have been nominated for the Women’s Health Women in Sport Awards. Now in it’s eighth year, the Women in Sport Awards will take place in October, recognising and celebrating Australia’s female athletes from grassroots through to elite professional level.

London marathon winner and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Madison de Rozario has received a nod for the event’s top gong, Sportswoman of the Year, whilst NSWIS is represented in every award category.

Para cyclist/swimmer Amanda Reid, 400m runner Anneliese Rubie and dual Winter Olympics bronze medallist Melissa Perrine have received nominations for Local Sporting Champion.

Following her fourth place at the Winter Olympics in freestyle moguls, Jakara Anthony has been recognised in the One to Watch category, along with New South Wales surfer Sabre Norris.

Canoe Slalom athlete Jessica Fox is number one in her sport at the moment following a string of wins in both the K1 and C1 events. Fox is nominated in the Moment of the Year Award. NSWIS long-distance runners Eloise Wellings and Celia Sullohern have also been nominated as part of a special moment at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Experienced diver Melissa Wu has been acknowledged for Comeback of the Year following an outstanding gold medal result at Commonwealth Games in the 10m Platform event on the Gold Coast.

NSWIS Campaign Scholarship athletes for the Commonwealth Games also received nominations for A-Team of the Year; Mariafe Artacho del Solar for her volleyball team and both Kelsey Cotteral and Natasha Scott for the Women’s Fours Lawn Bowls.
