Rio Olympian’s Kevin Chavez and Brittany O’Brien have both qualified for tomorrow’s finals at the 2016 FINA Grand Prix on the Gold Coast.

Both NSWIS athletes made their Olympic debut for Australia this year, O’Brien stepping in at the eleventh hour for an injured Brittany Broben, who has subsequently retired from the sport.

Chavez has progressed to the decider after topping his semi final in the men’s 3m springboard on the Gold Coast, continuing the form that saw him win the bronze medal at last weekend’s FINA Grand Prix in Malaysia.

Meanwhile O’Brien and Aussie Taneka Kovchenko will go through to the final of the women’s 10m-platform event after finishing third in their respective semi finals.

The results didn’t come easily for the Australian’s on the Gold Coast, with divers battling windy conditions at the outdoor Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
