The 2015 Track Cycling National Championships wrapped up over the weekend, with a host of NSWIS riders winning medals at the event.

The gold medal haul was highlighted by the NSWIS trio of Mitchell Bullen, Jamie Green and Peter Lewis taking honours in the men’s team sprint on the opening day of competition, before Scott Law joined them atop with podium with a win in the men’s scratch race.

Bullen, Lewis and Law remained in the medal winner’s circle throughout the championships, with Bullen and Lewis taking silver in the men’s keirin and sprint respectively, while Law added silver in the men’s 1km time trial and bronze in the men’s team pursuit to his haul.

Included in the men’s team pursuit bronze were Law’s fellow NSWIS athletes Ben Harvey, brother Jackson Law, Tirian McManus and Nicholas Yallouris, with Yallouris also winning bronze in the men’s scratch and 1km time trial events. McManus also took silver in the men’s individual pursuit.

There was also success for NSWIS riders Kaarle McCulloch and Ashlee Ankudinoff. McCulloch made a welcome return to the medal dais after lengthy battles with injury and illness, winning silver in the women’s team sprint, while Ankudinoff continued her good form by securing bronze in the women’s pursuit.

The championships also saw a number of rising stars perform well, as Bridget Mullany, Tayla Hunt, Nicola McDonald, Tori Saunders, Cameron Scott, Nicholas Edwards and Samuel Jenner all crowned national champions in a variety of under-19 events.
