The Australian men’s and women’s water polo teams have been drawn in their respective groups for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The women’s team, reigning bronze medal winners from the 2012 London Olympic Games, will face Italy, Russia and Brazil in group A.

Spain, China, Hungary and the United States form group B, with the winner of each group then playing the fourth place team from the opposite group in the quarter finals.

The Australian men’s team will face Serbia, Greece, Brazil, Japan and Hungary in group A, with the United States, Spain, France, Montenegro, Italy and Croatia forming group B.

The Olympic water polo competition kicks off on 6 August 2016.
