NSWIS cyclists were unstoppable in the velodrome this weekend.

At the Australian National Track Championships in Brisbane Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Kaarle McCulloch won her 12th national title in the Kierin.

The success continued at the UCI Para World Championships in Los Angeles, with NSWIS cyclist Amanda Reid taking two world titles and teammate Simone Kennedy also securing a rainbow jersey.

McCulloch took out the Kierin at the Anna Meares Velodrome in a dramatic race in which she showcased all of her experience and explosive power.

She said, “”It feels so good, haven’t had one of these (jerseys) for a few years, to have the green and gold feels almost as good as those rainbows.”

In LA, NSWIS Paralympian Amanda Reid secured two rainbow jerseys in the Women’s C2 3km Individual Pursuit and the 500m Time Trial. Reid had previously competed at the Paralympics in swimming before changing to cycling – and she is certainly not regretting that decision.

A further gold medal and rainbow jersey followed for NSWIS cyclist Simone Kennedy in the Women’s C3 3km Individual Pursuit. Kennedy was in an exceptionally tight battle with the USA’s Jamie Whitman, but eventually took the title by just one tenth of a second.
