Day One of the 2026 PA Canoe Sprint Grand Prix II saw more than 180 athletes take the course at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC).

From Olympic and Paralympic champions to first time paddlers, races were held across a number of categories and distances,. The day kicked off with the women’s U16 K1 500.

Grand Prix II doubles as the selection event for the Australian Senior team that will compete at the ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cups and World Championships later this year.

While there were no finals at SIRC today, the spots on offer for Saturday and Sunday’s finals were up for grabs, and competitors left it all out on the course in cloudy, mild conditions in Sydney’s west.
