NSWIS trio Ryley Batt, Andrew Edmondson and Cameron Carr have helped the Australian wheelchair rugby team to a nailbiting overtime win over Canada in a replay of the London 2012 Paralympic gold medal game.

Batt and Carr were part of the successful Australian team from four years ago and the pair made sure that 66-51 victory was emulated, albeit via the much closer scoreline of 63-62.

Just like he has been all tournament in Rio, Batt was again the star, scoring a team leading 36 goals. Edmondson also scored once.

Turnovers were a recurring theme throughout the game, Australia leading 29-28 at the half and forcing Canada to continually play from behind.

They stayed in the game though and with the scores locked at 56-all at fulltime the game went into extra time and again it was Batt who delivered, scoring four of Australia’s seven goals in the extra minutes.

Australia will face Japan in the semi-finals tomorrow, while Canada will face the U.S. on the other side of the draw.
