NSWIS swimmer Jarrod Poort has is one step closer to the 2016 Olympic Games after finishing third at the Australian Open Water Championships over the weekend.

Poort finished as the top Australian in the event to book a place at the final Olympic qualifying event later this year in Portugal. 

Poort will face Simon Huitenga at the qualifying event, with the first Australian male to finish in the top nine, or the first Oceania qualifier to take the one men’s open water spot for the Rio Games.
