Sydney FC of the Westfield W-League have secured their second consecutive premiership after a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Newcastle Jets.

The team, which consists of 11 NSWIS athletes, went into the half-time break deadlocked at 0-0 with the Jets after few chances during the first 45 minutes.

The second half was the difference between the two teams as NSWIS athlete Renee Rollason supplied a superb assist to fellow NSWIS Kyah Simon for the opening goal.

Only six minutes later the Jets equalised, keeping alive their hopes to play in next weekend’s semi-finals. The deadlock was shortlived, however, as Sydney earned a penalty which was calmly dispatched by NSWIS athlete Servet Uzunlar.

Sydney FC will next play Melbourne Victory in the semi-finals next weekend.
