Team Subaru NSWIS Cycling have had a successful start to their racing career with Nathan Bradshaw, Ayden Toovey and Harrison Carter all achieving promising results at the Blayney to Bathurst on the weekend.

Directeur Sportif Ben Kersten said it was a promising start for the team and praised the boys for their teamwork and maturity beyond their years.

“There were a few goals that we kicked over the weekend,” Kersten said.

“Our riders were present in every move and breakaway that happened, so it was a well coordinated approach by the team.

“We have three Under 23 riders and three Under 19 riders. So for a young group to take control on the road in the Men’s Elite Category shows how talented they are.”

Ayden Toovey finished second in the 110km Blayney to Bathurst on Sunday as well as the Bathurst Criterium on Saturday, and third in the U23 Hill Climb. Teammate Nathan Bradshaw took out the U23 Hill Climb, which was staged at the iconic Mount Panorama racetrack in Bathurst.

Kersten was particularly impressed by the ride of Bradshaw

“Nathan has grown another leg in the last few months and really taken up the role as leader of the team,” he said.

"We are very lucky to have such amazing support from our sponsors such as Subaru, Trek, Champion System and Bont. We are development driven and our sponsors support that. To get results is just a bonus.”

Bathurst local Harrison Carter was third in the U19 Criterium.

The team’s next assignment is a National Road Series event at the ‘Battle of the Border’ on the Queensland and NSW Border.
