The 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships wrapped up over the weekend with four NSWIS athletes winning medals at the event.

The highlight came in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay, where Australia won gold over the USA and Brazil. NSWIS athletes James Magnussen and Matthew Abood featured prominently through the middle of the race, bringing Australia back into contention before an outstanding final leg from Cam McEvoy sealed the gold medal for Australia.

The gold was Magnussen’s second medal of the meet after he won bronze in the men’s 100m freestyle, while Abood complemented his relay gold with a sixth place finish in the men’s 50m freestyle.

There was further medal success for siblings Emma and David McKeon. Emma won silver as part of the Australian women’s 4x200m freestyle relay team, while David won bronze as part of the Australian quartet in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.

Individually Emma took fourth in the women’s 100m butterfly, while David finished sixth in the men’s 400m freestyle.
