The Australian men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball teams have successfully qualified for the 2014 IWBF World Championships by triumphing at the 2013 IWBF Asia-Oceania Championships over the weekend.

Both teams powered through the tournament without losing a match, dominating their competition along the way to be crowned champions.

The men’s team, featuring NSWIS athletes Michael AuprinceLuke Pople and Tristan Knowles, defeated South Korea 74-60 in the final, while the women’s team, including NSWIS athletes Sarah StewartKylie Gauci and Caitlin de Wit, accounted for China 57-35.

The 2014 IWBF Women’s World Championships take place in Toronto, Canada from June 19-29, with the men’s world championships taking place in Incheon, South Korea from July 1-12 2014.
