NSWIS athlete Dani Samuels is hitting form ahead of the Olympic Games after winning a bronze medal in the women’s discus at the Shanghai leg of the 2012 Diamond League.

Samuels opened the event with a throw of 53.84m before improving to 59.52m and 60.98m to climb up the leaderboard. Her fourth attempt was a no throw, and then on her fifth attempt she equalled her season’s best with a throw of 62.34m to secure bronze.

Elsewhere, NSWIS Paralympic Games hopefuls took to the 2012 Swiss Open Nationals to improve their chances of qualifying for London.

Competing in the wheelchair track & road events, Angela Ballard finished with gold in the women’s T53-54 200m as well as silver in the women’s T53-54 100m and 400m events.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Kurt Fearnley finished with silver in the men’s T53-54 1500m and 5000m, and bronze in the men’s T53-54 800m.
