Seven NSWIS swimmers will compete at the 2012 London Olympic Games following performances at the 2012 Australian Swimming Championships.

The seven NSWIS selections are headlined by James Magnussen, who will compete at his first Games in the men’s 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100m medley relay.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Eamon Sullivan will compete at his third Olympic Games when he lines up in London, securing an individual berth in the men’s 50m freestyle and a team spot in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay.

Also competing in London will be Jayden Hadler (men’s 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley), Daniel Tranter (men’s 200m individual medley, 400m individual medley), Daniel Arnamnart (men’s 100m backstroke), David McKeon (men’s 400m freestyle) and Jessica Ashwood (women’s 800m freestyle).

There is also potential for Jarrod Poort to become the eighth NSWIS swimmer selected to the team in June after he clocked a ‘B’ qualifying time in the men’s 1500m freestyle.

Four former NSWIS supported athletes have also been selected on the team; Libby Trickett, Kenrick Monk, Thomas Fraser-Holmes and Hayden Stoeckel.

There were also a number of strong performances from Paralympic hopefuls at the trials, with Prue Watt, Tim Antalfy, Jacqui Freney, Kara Leo and Matthew Levy all winning medals. The swimming contingent of the Australian Paralympic team is expected to be announced in June.
