The Australian men’s water polo team, the Sharks, has come away with a bronze medal from the FINA World League Intercontinental Cup over the weekend.

Having lost to an in form Brazil to miss out on the gold medal match, the Australians faced hosts China in the bronze medal match, coming away with a comfortable 16-8 victory.

NSWIS athlete Johnno Cotterill was the star of the match after scoring four goals, with Australian captain and fellow NSWIS athlete Richie Campbell scoring three; Jarrod Gilchrist adding three and Tyler Martin notching another two goals in the rout. Also included in the team were NSWIS athletes James Clark, Aidan Roach, Nathan Power and Mitch Emery.

The Sharks now travel to Europe for a training camp before heading to Dubai for the FINA World League Finals from 16-21 June.2
