It was another golden day for NSWIS athletes at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, with shooter Warren Potent (
@WarrenPotent) taking top honours in fine fashion.

Competing in the men’s 50m rifle prone at his fourth Commonwealth Games, Potent was on song as he posted a new Games’ record of 624.5 points in the qualifying round to reach the final, before notching a finals record at the Games with 204.3 points to clinch gold.

The 2008 Olympic bronze medallist faced stiff competition during the final as he edged out the silver medallist from India by just 0.7 points, with the English bronze medallist finishing third by nearly 20 points.

Further medal success came in the pool on day five of competition, with Emma McKeon(

The NSWIS medal tally now stands at nine gold, one silver and six bronze medals following five days of competition.

There were a number of other significant results from NSWIS athletes on day five of the Commonwealth Games.

In the pool, Jessica Ashwood (
