Three NSWIS athletes have been selected in a 16-strong shooting contingent for the 2016 Olympic Games.

The NSWIS contingent is a mix of experience and youth, with Warren Potent to appear at his fifth Games, Daniel Repacholi to contest his fourth Olympics and James Willett to make his Olympic debut in Rio.

Potent will take part in the men’s 50m rifle prone, Repacholi will line up in both the men’s 10m air pistol and 50m free pistol and Willett will compete in the men’s double trap.

“I’m obviously aiming to get on the podium,” Potent confirmed to the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC). “I certainly think I have what it takes to win and if all goes well I could walk away with a medal like I did in Beijing.”

“Dad and I built a shooting range in the backyard so I can make sure I was training a lot more regularly and it has certainly paid off," Willett said to the AOC.

“I was overseas when the email was sent about my selection and my parents saw it before me. I spoke to them the next day and it was so exciting for all of us to have made the Team.”

“All the hard work and sacrifice has paid off to get the chance to represent my country at my fourth Olympic Games," Repacholi said following his selection.

“Now it’s all about winning gold. I have the right mindset and I’m shooting well so I’m hoping to return as Olympic Champion.”

A further two athletes will be selected in the shooting contingent ahead of the Games beginning on 5 August.
