The NSWIS snowboarding trio of Nate Johnstone, Holly Crawford and Alex Pullin were last week recognised for their outstanding success on the snow this year by being named joint winners of the 2011 Snowsports Athlete of the Year at Australian Ski and Snowboard Awards.

Johnstone (men’s half-pipe), Crawford (women’s half-pipe) and Pullin (men’s snowboard cross) were all gold winners at the 2011 FIS Snowboarding World Championships earlier this year in Spain. Johnstone and Pullin were also gold medallists in the season long world cup competition, while Crawford finished with silver at the conclusion of her world cup campaign.

Skiier Anna Segal was named as the fourth joint winner of the award for her gold medal performance at the 2011 FIS Freestyle Skiing World Championships.

Other NSWIS winners from the night included Scott Kneller (Alpine Athlete of the Year), Britteny Cox (Junior Athlete of the Year) and coaches Ben Alexander (Coach fo the Year) and Peter Topalovic (Development Coach of the Year).
