NSWIS golfer Matthew Stieger has secured the most prized trophy of his budding career by taking out the 2011 Tasmanian Open over the weekend.

Stieger, who shot rounds of 65, 67, 69 and 70 to post a total of 271 was seven shots clear of his nearest competitor, closing the tournament at a phenomenal 13 under par.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Daniel Bringolf was also in solid form, finishing in a tie for third at four under the card.
