The Subaru NSWIS and MS development cycling team will be out on the state’s roads on Saturday in the opening round of the men’s 2016 Subaru National Road Series, the 228km Grafton to Inverell Cycle Classic.

The 56th edition of the race, billed as Australia’s toughest one-day classic, is set to be a competitive one with the Bradley McGee and Ben Kersten prepared NSWIS squad one of 14 teams and a bunch of individual riders in the 108-man field.

Riding for the Subaru NSWIS and MS development cycling team will be Scott and Jackson Law, Nathan Bradshaw, Ayden Toovey, Stuart Shaw, Jacob Kauffmann and Liam Magennis.

The race predominantly follows the Gwydir Highway over some challenging terrain that includes the climb of the Gibraltar Range, an 18km ascent from the Clarence Valley to the New England Highlands, with the man to beat likely to be Sean Lake (Avanti IsoWhey Sports), who made his mark on history last year, becoming the first back-to-back winner of the Grafton to Inverell.
