NSWIS winter sport athletes Belle Brockhoff and Anton Grimus have signalled their intentions of a potential Winter Olympic berth with podium finishes at world cup events in Austria and Canada, respectively.

With the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games just over 12 months away, Brockhoff won bronze to become the first Australian female to win a snowboard cross world cup medal.

The talented 19 year old navigated the difficult course to take bronze behind Dominique Maltais of Canada and Rafaella Brutto of Italy.

Also in action in Austria was NSWIS athlete and reigning world champion Alex Pullin, who finished fourth in his opening event of the men’s snowboard cross season.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Anton Grimus was also in medal winning form over the weekend, picking up bronze in the men’s ski cross. Competing at the ski cross world cup event in Canada, Grimus crossed the line third to better his previous best finish of 10th place.

2012 Winter Olympian and NSWIS athlete Scott Kneller finished 12th in the same event in Canada.
