The NSW Swifts have fallen to their second loss in three games after going down to the Melbourne Vixens in the 2011 ANZ Championship over the weekend.

After beginning their season with a crushing victory over the Adelaide Thunderbirds, the Swifts have lost in consecutive weeks to the Queensland Firebirds and now Melbourne, 49-45.

The first quarter ended with the Swifts facing a 17-7 deficit before closing the gap to 27-21 at half time.

Further improvement in the third quarter saw the Swifts rally to be down 37-33 at three quarter time, however they could not close the gap on the Vixens, eventually losing by four goals.

The Swifts play the West Coast Fever next week at Sydney Olympic Park.
