The NSW Swifts have dropped to third position on the 2011 ANZ Championship ladder after a crucial loss at the hands of the Queenslands Firebirds over the weekend.

The Swifts led the Firebirds at half time 31-24 before Queensland reshuffled their lineup, taking a 41-42 lead over NSW heading into the final term.

The fourth quarter remained close but the Swifts were not able to close the gap, eventually falling to a 53-57 loss.

There are six games left for the Swifts, with only one being played at their home at Sydney Olympic Park.0
