NSWIS swimmers are heating up ahead of the upcoming national championships with a number of fine performances over the weekend at the 2012 SA Swimming Championships in Adelaide.

Day One
Reigning world champion James Magnussen showed his intentions in the men’s 100m freestyle, clocking a quick 48.05 in the event to take gold ahead of fellow NSWIS athletes Matthew Abood (49.85) and Eamon Sullivan (50.83). 

It was a strong opening night for the NSWIS competitors with gold going to Daniel Tranter (men’s 200m individual medley), Jayden Hadler (men’s 100m butterfly) and Daniel Arnamnart (men’s 50m backstroke), with Joe Carty taking silver in the men’s 100m butterfly.

Day Two
Day two picked up where day one left off with Hadler, Tranter and Arnamnart picking up their second gold medals of the meet with victories in the men’s 200m butterfly, 400m individual medley and 100m backstroke, respectively.

Also on day two, NSWIS athlete and young gun Jessica Ashwood took silver in the women’s 200m and 400m freestyle, while Robert Hurley proved his mettle with gold in the men’s 200m and 800m freestyle.

Day Three
The final night of action in Adelaide saw more gold medals for NSWIS athletes; Hurley triumphed in the men’s 400m freestyle for his third gold of the meet while Ashwood won her second gold of the meet in the women’s 800m freestyle.

Elsewhere in the men’s 50m freestyle Magnussen and Abood finish with silver and bronze, respectively; Hadler took silver in the men’s 50m butterfly and Tranter secured silver in the men’s 200m backstroke.
