A trio of NSWIS athletes have been selected on the Australian team heading to the 2015 FINA World Championships, with another 13 selected to compete at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships.

Headlining the FINA World Championships selections are James Magnussen and Matthew Abood, with newcomer Kurt Herzog earning a spot in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay squad after a successful outing at the 2015 Australian Swimming Championships.

Magnussen will be aiming for his third consecutive world title in the men’s 100m freestyle event, while Abood returns to world championship competition for the first time since 2011 when he was part of the gold medal winning 4x100m freestyle relay team. Herzog makes his senior international debut.

The 2015 FINA World Championships take place in Kazan, Russia from August 5-16.

Following the Australian Swimming Championships, a further 13 NSWIS athletes were selected on the Australian team heading to the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships.

Paralympic golden girl Jacqui Freney headlines selections alongside Maddi Elliott, with the duo also joined by Taylor Corry, Teigen Van Roosmalen, Tiffany Thomas Kane, Prue Watt and Ellie Cole in the women’s events.

Men’s selections for the team include Matt Levy, Andrew Pasterfield, Timothy Hodge, Sean Russo, Reagan Wickens and Tim Antalfy.

The 2015 IPC Swimming Championships take place in Glasgow, Scotland from July 13-19.
