The world cup’s first stop in Einhoven saw James Magnussen highlight the medal winners as he took gold in the men’s 100m freestyle, just days after winning world championship gold in Barcelona.

Joining Magnussen on the dais in the event were fellow NSWIS athletes Kenneth To and Matt Abood, who won silver and bronze respectively, with Robert Hurley also picking up gold in the men’s 100m backstroke.

To then finished with silver in the men’s 100m individual medley, with Daniel Tranter fourth, while Emma McKeon won bronze in the women’s 200m freestyle.

The second night of competition in Eindhoven saw To then back up from his silver medal on day one to take gold in the men’s 200m individual medley, with Tranter winning silver, while McKeon added to her bronze in the women’s 200m freestyle with a silver in the women’s 100m freestyle.

The world cup then moved to Berlin, Germany, as Hurley highlighted the opening night of competition with gold in the men’s 100m backstroke.

Fellow NSWIS athletes To and Magnussen picked up silver in the men’s 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle respectively, before To picked up gold in the men’s 200m individual medley on the second night in Berlin.

Hurley made it a clean sweep of the men’s backstroke events in Berlin with a gold in the 50m event, before showing his versatility with a fourth place finish in the men’s 200m freestyle.

The next event on the world cup schedule takes place in Moscow, Russia from 12-13 October.
