Australia’s Freeski and Snowboard contingent impressed at the Australia-New Zealand Cup (ANC) in Cardrona Alpine Resort, rounding out a strong week of performances across Big Air, Slopestyle and Halfpipe.

The headline result came from rising freeski talent Daisy Thomas, a New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) scholarship holder, who secured the overall ANC Women’s Freeski title, and with it a World Cup quota spot in Slopestyle and Big Air.

Thomas shone across the weekend, finishing second in Freeski Big Air and third in Freeski Slopestyle to cap off an outstanding campaign.

In the men’s freeski events, Hugo Broadbent led the charge in Big Air, placing sixth, with Aidan Laing (9th) and Angus Falconer(10th) rounding out a strong Australian top 10. Laing also delivered Australia’s top men’s result in Slopestyle, placing fifth. 

Australia’s female freeskiers also impressed in Halfpipe, with Indra Brown claiming second and Maya Broadbent finishing 10th.

On the snowboard side, Josh Robertson-Hahn produced the standout men’s result, placing 4th in Big Air. James Garth (16th) and Taj Curran (17th) also represented strongly, while Garth posted the top Australian men’s Slopestyle result (16th).

In the women’s snowboard competition, Ally Hickman(4th), Mela Stalker (5th) and Jess McGregor (7th) all landed inside the top 10 of Big Air, showcasing Australia’s growing depth in the discipline. McGregor also delivered a podium finish in Slopestyle, taking third, with Stalker (9th), MJ Purwanto (12th) and Hickman (15th) rounding out the results.

For Australia’s freeski and snowboard contingent, the ANC at Cardrona marked a fitting finale to the southern hemisphere season with athletes delivering podiums, quota spots, and momentum heading into northern campaigns.
