Team NSWIS netball player Caitlin Thwaites has put in a brilliant performance for the NSW Swifts in their commanding 79-41 victory against the Central Pulse.

As the swifts stormed to their fifth win of the ANZ Championship, it was Thwaites who stole the limelight to finish with a record-breaking 50 goals; head coach Rob Wright praising her efforts on court.

“Caitlin had a terrific game today. She was playing two world class defenders [Karaka and Grant] and was just an incredibly strong target for us up forward; she was outstanding today,” Wright said.

While it took some time for each side to get into their rhythm, it was the Swifts who found form first to post 21 goals in the first 15 minutes. Their lead continued to grow as Thwaites and her partner in crime Susan Pettitt kept the scoreboard ticking over, young shooter Stephanie Wood also contributing after entering the game at half time.

The result makes it four consecutive wins at home for the Swifts, however the team are on the road for the next two rounds against the Melbourne Vixens and New Zealand’s Mainland Tactix.

Meanwhile the NSW Waratahs posted two winning results against the Canberra Darters in two days.

The Waratahs claimed a 52-37 victory in game one, backing up that effort to to win 65-46 the next day.

NSWIS athletes Keira Austin and Alison Miller both produced impressive shooting stats to finish the game with 91 per cent and 86 per cent success rates respectively.
