NSWIS swimmer Kenneth To has claimed his first medal of the 2011 Mare Nostrum Series with a silver medal at the Canet leg in the men’s 200m individual medley.

To was able to secure silver behind Hungarian Laszlo Cseh and in the process, broke the magical two minute barrier by recording a time of 1:59.89. Australian Head Coach Leigh Nugent saw To’s time as a real breakthrough for the youngster’s career.

Day one also saw Australian champion Olivia Halicek narrowly miss out on medals, again finishing fourth in the women’s 50m freestyle. Halicek clocked a time of 25.39 seconds.
