Anglea Ballard and Madison di Rozario have taken first and second respectively in one of the top racing events on the calendar.

The duo claimed the gold & silver at the Daniela Jutzeler Memorial in the TR 1500 m F T53 – T54 class, doing so in times which smashed their results for the same event last year.

Ballard finished in 03:20.94 and di Rozario less than tenth of a second behind her in 03:21.03, both between two and three seconds quicker than 2016.

The Daniela Jutzeler Memorial is a part of the Swiss Racing Series, a renowned event series for wheelchair athletes, and takes place annually at the Athletics Stadium in Arbon, Switzerland.

Results:
Angie Ballard – T53/54 1500m 3.20.94 (breaking de Rozario’s NR by 2.5sec)
Madison de Rozario – T53/54 5000m 11.02.54 (breaking her own NR by 3.5sec / also breaking previous WR)

Rheed McCracken – T34 100m 15.07 (previous NR 15.34) / T34 200m 27.21 (previous NR 28.34)

The Wheelchair Squad will now turn their focus on competing in a few day’s time at the Swiss Nationals in Notwill SUI, on the 27th & 28th May.

The result is a good boost for the NSW Institute of Sport athletes as they prepare for the World Championships in London this coming July.
