NSWIS equestrian athlete Edwina Tops-Alexander has been selected on the Australian Olympic team to compete at the 2012 Olympic Games.

Tops-Alexander and her horse Cevo Itot du Chateau were selected to the team after stellar results over the past 12 months which have seen her rise to become the top female rider in the world.

The Beijing Olympian won the five star event on the prestigious Global Champions Tour in Qatar earlier this year, and is currently 10th in the world.

Four years ago Tops-Alexander finished 10th in the individual jumping event and seventh in the team jumping event, but will no doubt be eyeing gold in London.

The rest of the Australian jumping team will be announced in early June.
