A total of 20 NSWIS track & field athletes have had their selections confirmed for the Australian Commonwealth Games heading to Glasgow during July.

Selections for the team took part in two stages, with NSWIS athletes Josh Ralph, Kurt Fearnley, Nicholas Hough, Ian Dewhurst, Jake Stein, Ella Nelson, Christie Dawes, Angela Ballard, Victoria Mitchell, Jodi Elkington, Rae Anderson, Dani Samuels and Sophie Stanwell all being selected following the Australian Athletics Championships in April.

The initial 13 will be joined by a further seven athletes, who had their selection ratified by the Australian Commonwealth Games Association. Included in the selections are young guns Jarrod Geddes, Steven Solomon and Brandon Starc, with Ben St Lawrence, Fabrice Lapierre and Tim Leathart rounding out the men’s selections. Annaliese Rubie was the lone NSWIS female selected, addingto the eight already on the team. 

The track & field team heading to Glasgow is the largest Australian team to leave the nation’s shores, with 103 athletes selected. Overall team selections for the Australian Commonwealth Games team take place up until June 10th before the final Australian team is named.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games take place in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July – 3 August 2014.
