Five NSWIS athletes have capped a remarkable weekend in women’s match racing sailing, with both Australian crews taking victory at events on the opposite side of the world.

NSWIS athletes Olivia Price and Nina Curtis formed two thirds of the Australian women’s match racing team competing at the 2011 Oceania Regional Finals, a qualification for the 2011 ISAF Nations Cup later this year. The Australian trio was in strong form throughout the tournament, losing only one match in the round robin stage before going on to defeat New Zealand 3-0 in the final.

Meanwhile, in Helsinki, Finland, NSWIS athletes Katie Spithill, Jessica Eastwell and Lucinda Whitty claimed gold at the 2011 European Championships Qualifier. The gold medal qualified the team for the 2011 European Championships, winning all but one of their races.
