Three NSWIS athletes have been selected in the Australian women’s water polo team to contest the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Leading the trio is NSWIS athlete and goalkeeper Alicia McCormack, who won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. McCormack will reprise her role as Australia’s premier shotblocker.

Joining McCormack on the team are Olympic debutants Holly Lincoln-Smith and Nicola Zagame. Zagame plays centre-back for the Stingers, while Lincoln-Smith leads the charge at centre forward.

Lincoln-Smith’s selection to the team will also create Australian Olympic history. She is the sister of skeleton athlete Emma Lincoln-Smith, who competed at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. When Holly lines up in London the sister duo will become the first Australian siblings to represent Australia at the summer and winter Olympics.
