Five Winter World Cup Medals

Up there as one of NSWIS’ best weekend of results in winter sports, Matt Graham won a gold (singles) and silver (dual) in the men’s moguls, Valentino Guseli took home silver in half pipe and slopestyle, becoming only the fourth snowboarder to podium in all three park and pipe disciplines while Jakara Anthony won a gold in the women’s singles moguls, claiming the Crystal Globe as world cup champion in singles moguls.

PBs for Track and Field Athletes

Carley Thomas competed in the women’s distance medley relay (DMR) at Boston University last Friday, where she and three of her Washington University teammates, broke a 14yr NCAA Indoor Collegiate Record. Erin Shaw jumped a new PB (1.90m) in her first senior international meet in Hustopece, CZE, finishing fifth, with Brandon Starc coming fourth in the men’s competition with his highest jump since the Tokyo Olympic Games with 2.27m.

 

Water Polo League Update

The Women’s Water Polo League is well underway and the teams from Balmain, Cronulla and Sydney Uni are at the top of the table half way through the competition.

NSWIS Athletes Selected to Kookaburras Squad

The net of Hockeyroos athletes has been widened after Head Coach Katrina Powell finalised the 2023 squad. NSWIS livewire Grace Young debuts in this year’s squad, with NSWIS alumni Greta Hayes and Courtney Schonell selected in the remaining spots. An initial 17-player Hockeyroos squad for 2023 was announced in December last year, with the addition of this quintet completing the list of 22 players.
