Athletes Ready to Inspire Students

More than ten Olympians and Olympic hopefuls learned the skills of effective communication so as to craft a story about their journey in sport and encourage high school students to be their best self as part of the Olympics Unleashed training program.

“The way you stand in front of an audience is important,” Sarah Carli said.

“I have a tendency for putting my weight on one leg and crossing my arms, something that you shouldn’t be doing.

“And not saying ‘um’. I’m someone that says ‘um’ all the time, I’m pretty sure I said it then, so getting used to breathing instead of saying um is what I need to focus on.”

NSW Minister for Sport Alister Henskens was at the state’s high performance headquarters to launch the partnership between NSWIS and north west Sydney clothing manufacturer Valour, which will dress NSWIS athletes for success in the lead up to the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Minister Henskens said off the back of a successful Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where NSWIS athletes won 25 medals and set seven Games records, the new partnership with Valour sets a new benchmark for professional athlete apparel.

“Our best athletes need the best gear to perform at their peak and Valour’s cutting-edge clothing will ensure our NSWIS athletes are ready to compete against the world’s best,” Mr Henskens said.
