The Kookaburras finished at the top of Pool A in the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World as NSWIS wheelchair athletes took to the track at the Summer Down Under.

Kookaburras Through to Quarter Finals

NSW scholarship holder Blake Govers was awarded player of the match for his 4-goal performance in the final pool match of the men’s hockey world cup as the Kookaburras advance through to the quarter finals.

Wheelchair Summer Down Under

Madison de Rozario was the best placed NSWIS scholarship holder at the Summer Down Under winning the women’s 800m in 1:58.46 and the women’s 5000m in 13:13.38 and using the opportunity to trial her new, full carbon frame chair.

Rowers Emerge For Competition

NSWIS rowing athletes have emerged from their Club training camps over the summer holidays and will compete in the first race of the season this weekend.

“On the toughest day of the camp we did 50km on the water,” NSWIS scholarship holder Alex Nichol said of his camp in the Snowy Mountains. “An average session is between 20km and 30km.”

Alex will contest the single sculls in the first regatta of the season on Saturday in Penrith. The regatta is for the small boats and selection for the state team is up for grabs.

 

Valentino Just Misses Podium In Laax

At the world cup in Laax, Valentino Guseli was the best placed NSWIS athlete, finishing fourth in the snowboard half pipe and fifth in the slopestyle. Fellow NSWIS scholarship holders Emily Arthur was sixth in the snowboard half pipe, Tess Coady twelfth in the snowboard slopestyle and Abi Harrigan twelfth in the ski slopestyle.
